12 Days of Destiny – Day 12

We are deep in the holiday season, and I have to admit that I get a bit…enthusiastic…about Christmas. To that end, I thought it might be fun to take a shot at a “12 Days of Destiny” series of articles that highlight twelve wonderful (or at least impactful) things that Destiny has brought to us. The Twelfth and final Day of Destiny is a very special celebration of our fellow Destiny enthusiasts!

On the Twelfth Day of Destiny, the Community Gave to Me…Twelve(ish) Brilliant Content Creators

Fantasy Flight Games didn’t gift us with this day I’m afraid. Rather, today, we are celebrating the tireless efforts of some of our most notorious community members to bring all of us consistently good content on a daily basis. Often their work goes without celebration even though they do much to shape the way that we talk about and play the game. So for our final day (and if you celebrate Christmas, then as a Christmas present), I wanted to recognize many of the Content Creators that have or are making content for Star Wars: Destiny. As a huge caveat, I have included more than twelve Content Creators here because it was important to me to try to recognize everyone. That said, I know that I’ve missed people. My memory is certainly not infallible, and even though I tried to spend some time double checking I’m sure that folks got left out, and for that I apologize. If you want to be included, please feel free to shoot me an email (matthew@thechancecube.com) or just flame me on the Facebook post, and I will be glad to add you. (I mean…email is better…)

Rather than speaking myself about each of the content creators, I instead asked them to answer a simple question for me so that I could share their answers with you – “What keeps you feeling positively about Star Wars: Destiny and helps motivate you to make new content?” Thank you so much to those who had the opportunity to respond. Below their responses are a few other creators that we didn’t hear back from but who nonetheless have earned their place on this list.

Arrowbrook Gaming
“We just love the game and love Star Wars!! Having the opportunity to make content for a game and community that constantly ties those two things together has been amazing! We look forward to contributing that community in any way possible!”

The Destiny Council
“The community. Both local and global communities are without a doubt what keeps us involved and participating. We have an incredibly motivating group of people that have all come together in the various CC discord and Facebook pages and without them I don’t know how any of us would have kept up the motivation to keep putting out content.”

Golden Dice Podcast
“What keeps me positive about Destiny is the core aspect of the game and the community. The first time I played this game I fell in love with the mechanics. Giving a lightsaber to Luke, a DL to Han, and playing Tie Fighters with Stormtroopers. I just loved it. The dice added such a great element to the game that makes it different every time. To make playing this game even better, we have a great community. I love traveling to Worlds, NOVA, Primes, and any other events, not just to play but to see the people I talk to everyday about this game. I love playing this game with the people I’ve met along the way. Beating Brian all the time is just the cherry on top.”

The Hyperloops
“Collectively, the amazing community is what keeps us positive about Star Wars: Destiny, and we continue writing content because we try to do our part to keep it going.”

Jackalmen Games
“Personally, the amazing community that the game has. If it wasn’t for the amazing people that I’ve met and the new friends I’ve made through the game, I definitely wouldn’t have stuck around with it as long as I have.” – Fortune
“I like the complexity of the game and all the moving parts. I just know going into each game there is a way to optimize each situation, and I want to find it.” – stonegood

Jank It Up, Fuzzball
“I love playing the game. While new sets and new cards are always exciting, as a casual player, I’m just as happy cracking Awakenings or Legacies packs and playing some sealed using a draft kit. As I’m not a competitive Content Creator, I’ll always have new content to offer, whether it’s discussing some janky standard build or reporting on a recent Way of the Force box battle I played with friends. I’m happy to leave spoilers and meta talk to the others who cover those topics so well.”

Knights of Ren
“The community is the driving force behind the majority of what we do. It’s been amazing to be a part of this community for the past 3 years, and we would love to continue producing quality product for the community. But by far, it is the cast of amazing people in this story of Star Wars: Destiny that shapes this amazing adventure.”

Monk’s Gaming Battlefield
“This damn community – best that’s out there and a game that you can play both competitively and straight theme at any time and have a good ol’ time.”

YOUR Destiny
“I guess there are two things that keeps me positive about Star Wars: Destiny, the first being that it is such a great game. I’m not really a “gamer” per se, and while a lot of Destiny players I know are also avid board gamers and/or computer gamers and card players, many enjoying several CCG’s or LCG’s, I’m just playing Destiny. Because it’s a great game. It’s honestly not even because it’s created within the Star Wars universe, but because the game mechanics appeal to me. I love the math involved, the complexity of the game and pace of it. Secondly, and this is by far the most important part, which I assume will be a standard reply from 99% of the people you’d ask the same question, the community! The people playing Destiny are mostly an amazing bunch of geeks, from all walks of life. I’ve met so many different people playing Destiny, many of them I would probably never have befriended had it not been due to this odd interest. When I went to Worlds 2019, I ended up singing karaoke TWICE with a grand group of people from the Destiny community, many of whom I’ve never met prior to the event in Minneapolis. It was just so natural – and most of the time we didn’t even talk about Destiny. When a game, I mean, it’s just a game, can bring you that much joy, you tend to hang on to it. The motivation to create content for Destiny is somewhat of a different story. I’m a workaholic, for better and for worse, and I actually started creating content to do something else with my time other than work, and while it’s also pretty hard work running a website, it’s kind of fun to create something out of nothing, because that’s really what content creation for Destiny is. It’s something out of nothing. It’s just a blank computer screen and an idea trapped inside your head. Then you start typing … LOL … bam … article. And often, when my motivation for writing articles is really low, usually a really nice message ticks into my mailbox, someone saying how they liked that last article, things like that gets the engine kick started again. Flattery tends to make you an inch taller and give it another go! And here it’d probably be fitting to say THANK YOU to everyone reading our content and watching our videos – and listening to our podcasts back when we actually did those – you guys are the reason we do it in the first place!”

And More!

In addition to those that I heard back from, I also wanted to recognize the following content creators that have contributed to the game in past or present, but didn’t have the chance to respond.
