The Growth of the Ranks

The Chance Cube is excited to announce an expansion in our blog. We used to be quite active article writers, but as time went on and things morphed and changed, our content output changed with it.

However, we are getting back to basics and we’ve also identified a gap in the larger content market… the casual perspective. We have a lot of different creative ideas in the works and hope to bring something special to our output while considering this direction.

As part of this,we are happy to announce the newest members of The Chance Cube family:

Mike Hill
Wade Hayes
Cecil Miller

These individuals are the first in a team of writers who will be instrumental in helping us rebuild our written output, and they each have written a few words to introduce themselves.

Mike Hill

Hello! My name is Mike Hill, and I’m going to be writing occasionally for The Chance Cube! I’ve been playing Star Wars: Destiny since the game launched, and I have a pretty good mix of casual and competitive experience. I’m happiest when I’m doing well at an event with a bizarre or unconventional deck choice. The thing I’m probably most known for was being the very lucky (or very stupid) player that successfully took Kylo (TP1)/Wullf (AG21) into the Thrawn (EW4)/Snoke (WF4) meta at my local regional. I haven’t written formally before, but I look forward to the opportunity!

I’m excited to write more content for The Chance Cube, and I hope you’ll bear with me as I find my footing! Thanks all!

Wade Hayes

Greetings and salutations! My name is Wade Hayes and I am very excited to be joining The Chance Cube Family as a writer. I began playing Star Wars: Destiny during college and started competing after graduating. Since then, I have played in tournaments across the US and Europe and written about my experiences along the way. My top finishes have been two 3rd place finishes in Galactic Qualifiers (Standard and Trilogies), a 7th Place (Swiss) finish in the 2018 Nordic Nationals, and an 11th Place (Swiss) finish in the 2018 Dutch Nationals.

From a deck building perspective, I am known for playing unique and oftentimes thematic pairings. You will never find me playing a deck that is “defining” the competitive environment. My most recent character pairings have been Rex (WF74)/Clone Trooper (LG38)/Hired Gun (AW47), and Iden Versio (AG18)/Mother
Talzin (LG3).

Cecil Miller

Hello The Chance Cube Universe. My name is Cecil and I hail from the state of Michigan. I am actually from Flint and I have been playing Star Wars: Destiny since Awakenings came out. On a whim I bought the Kylo Ren (AW11) booster pack and was hooked. I spent a lot of time watching videos and getting my head bashed in at events before finally picking up the ideas of deck building.

What I hope to bring to The Chance Cube is the idea of growing as players. I want to help newbies so that they can realize that the beginning is not how it will always be. Since I started playing I have won a few events at Card Table Republic, in Davison—my FLGS. I have won 1 store championship and finished top 4 in another. In the recent regionals I finished in the top 8, finishing 5th overall. I hope to help grow this great community.

Hopefully this has given you a small vision of what I hope to bring. I want to go more in depth on what it means to become better at this. How to become a great pilot where we are driving the deck and not the other way around.
