Card Dissection: Intimidate (AW84)

There are cards that everyone will discuss for their awesomeness, others for their strategy, and some for their power, but let us ever overlook the value of a cards utility. Intimidate (AW84) is one such card.

With less than half the set spoiled, we can only begin to guess at how a typical deck will play out. However, what is being overlooked are events that help run defensive and offensive elements of your deck. These cards form the core balance between the light and dark, and do not rely on dice rolls to cause mayhem to your opponent.

This blue villain event allows you to remove all shields from a character. Simple action in of itself, but that could effectively be the equivalent of up to 3 damage for only the cost of an action and a card.

Sure, we are limited by the fact this is a blue villain card, but we have seen throughout the different spoiled cards that there are many cards similar to this that help play the defensive or offinsive game away from the dice.

I believe we will find as we learn more about the game that cards such as this one are just as important as the dice in the game, and a sure fire zero cost effect is better than the chance of a good roll from a character.

Let us know if you see any errors in the program, if you have suggestions for improvement, or just drop us a note to let us know you like it.

Star Wars: Destiny – (No) Regional Tournament Support

Fantasy Flight Games Organized Play

Fantasy Flight Games (FFG) has recently sent out its Organized Play Newsletter with information on the upcoming tournament seasons.  What is missing from this news? Star Wars: Destiny.

Now, before you get too concerned, this is not terribly surprising.  The level of planning that needs to go into the national tournament program sponsored by FFG requires some expense, and they will be hesitant to invest in Star Wars: Destiny until the game has proven popular and profitable for the company.  Given the level of fan support so far for this game, I would be shocked if a tournament program is not announced in the coming weeks.  However it is unlikely that Destiny will be included in the upcoming fall season on a regional level.
