Celebration Recap: Day 2

Day two at Star Wars Celebration was a very exciting day indeed, the highlight being the release of the teaser trailer for The Last Jedi.  And, there is a fair amount of Destiny as well!

The Last Jedi

The Last Jedi panel was highly anticipated, and did not disappoint. Josh Gad hosted with Kathleen Kennedy and director Rian Johnson, and brought on special guests Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran, playing the character Rose, a Resistance mechanic. The trailer was awesome, which you can check out here.

It Is Your Destiny

I was able to grab a game of Destiny with Bowie Sessions. It was my eAckbar/Trooper/Trooper vs his ePoe/eRey deck.  It was a very enjoyable game.  Poe’s special hit, taking out Akbar in the mid game, and then a well timed Hit and Run taking out Poe, but the staying power and action economy of Rey was able to withstand the remainder of my Troopers, and I took a loss. Fortunately, this was enough to pick up a couple of those new promos!

Girl Power!

The remainder of the afternoon was at panels. Heroines of Star Wars featured Dave Filoni with Tiya Sircar, voice of Sabine, and Ashley Eckstein, voice of Ahoska, talking about powerful women in Star Wars. There was a special guest appearance by Daisy Ridley, which was delightful for all. We even got a full screening of one of their new short-form animation pieces featuring Rey and BB-8, part of the Forces of Destiny story initiative.

New Books

The Lucasfilm publishing panel had some surprises. While most of the panel was a slew of authors answering questions about writing Star Wars, they announced a lot of great new titles, including the Journey to The Last Jedi initiative.

Of course, the highlight for us was the Fantasy Flight panel. This was a brief, but very exciting panel which I recapped in a previous article.

Still More To Come

Day three is full of Star Wars canon with Rebel Season 4 preview, Delrey, and Marvel panels… and hopefully some Destiny!
