Deck BuildingEvent ReportThe Blog

Hello Vader… My Old Friend

After a lot of trading, I was finally able to get a solid Vader – TTB (AG1) deck built. I wasn’t all that successful with it so it went on the back burner.

With the release of Spark of Hope and the Niman forms, as well as the associated events Draw Closer (SH116) and Pushing Slash (SH118), I decided to revamp my deck a bit.

So with that in mind, I played it at my local tournament on Friday.

Game 1: My dice got turned 7 ways to Sunday with Rey/Poe that just frustrated the heck out of me and cost me the game. Loss

Game 2: I played a fairly new and inexperienced player at the FLGS I play at every other Friday. The only thing useful he did was to play a Downgrade on me which only allowed me to resolve a single die at a time. That basically meant my Vader and his Lightsaber (AG16). But Vader isn’t called a Terror to Behold for nothing and proceeded more slowly to lay down the beat down. Win.

Game 3: I played against eAphra 3-wide and couldn’t draw my upgrades soon enough to do any good. Aphra is still a great character and can bring droid mayhem like nobody’s business. Loss.

Overall: Vader is still awesome, but I’m not able to bring enough strength to my deck to be awesome in the current meta. It’s time to hang up his lightsaber for now and try and work on something more competitive for the upcoming Prime event next month, even though I won’t be able to make the whole thing as I have a prior obligation that evening.

Until next time.
