Scoundrel Lovin’ (Card Analysis: Mean Streets)

Scoundrel characters deserve a place to call their own. When choosing a Battlefield for your scoundrel deck there is no better choice than the Mean Streets (CV177).

Do you know what you are doing?!?

When you claim Mean Streets – Corellia Battlefield, you can spot a scoundrel and place a resource on the card. Then you may play an event for it’s cost minus the number of resources on the card. This ability has some major possibilities and should be run in most scoundrel decks.

“I’m gonna be a pilot. Best in the galaxy.”

For a Battlefield, this card gives to scoundrels what Obi-Wan’s Hut (TP46) does for Force characters. Mitigation is an extremely important part of Star Wars: Destiny. Being able to play mitigation, at a reduced price, at the time when your opponent is most vulnerable is key to being a good pilot. Just like in Solo: A Star Wars Story, we have the ability to become the best pilot in the galaxy. Also, there is an interesting combo that makes this card even more potent.

Miss Kim’s Favorite Movie

Now I’ve only been part of The Chance Cube family for a short time. However, I have learned one thing – Kim does not seem to favor the Han Solo film. Who can forget the car chase through the streets of Corellia in that film? That protocol droid waving his arms as Han and Qi’ra race to get off world.

This card plays exactly like that scene of the movie. You are racing against your opponent and trying to get to the next round safely. The only way to do it is to punch it. That is what this card has the potential to do, Chance Cube Universe.

A Hard Slap

Just like the Falcon, when it is being temperamental, sometimes a gentle slap causes everything to be better. This combo is not gentle, it is hard and can push your opponent, like L3-37 (AG91) into table-flip mode. The combo I speak of is Grand Moff (LG16) with Mean Streets.

I have recently been playing a Yellow/Red deck. This deck utilizes the synergy between the Grand Moff Power Action and Mean Streets claim ability. While playing this combo I’ve been able to play Domination (CV123). Now imagine if you have both Grand Moffs out – the idea of not having to pay for mitigation is outstanding.

One last tip: this Battlefield doesn’t say “spot a scoundrel character.” It says “spot a scoundrel.” With many cards carrying the scoundrel label this is easy to do. We must “unlearn what we have learned” and see that a 4-cost upgrade can more than pay for itself when traveling the Mean Streets in Corellia.
