The Labyrinth Game Shop posted some updates on Facebook yesterday about their time at the New York Toy Show. In a meeting with Asmodee, they had this to report:
“Destiny starters are supposed to be back maybe in March. New Destiny boosters are slated for hopefully April or May, and they have decided to do a very limited reprint for the first boosters, but they probably wont’ be available until summer.” – Labyrinth Game Shop Post via Meeting with Asmodee Representatives
While there is a vagueness to this report, it does show that Fantasy Flight Games is aware of the player’s concerns and wants to get Awakenings into as many hands as possible. It also shows that they have a lot planned coming up and that they are continuing to look forward.
As a matter of opinion, it seems that they have a lot of items in production at the moment and they want to keep moving forward. How critical is Awakenings as a base set. Based on the way the game is designed, each set may, in of itself, be very self contained and playable (and competitive?) without previous sets needed. This is something we can evaluate after the release of Spirit of Rebellion.
Lets hope that this is a sign for good things to come!
