Convergence has brought a lot of really good cards to play. When looking at characters, especially support characters, the best by far is Wat Tambor.

Bruh, Do You Even Yub Nub?
If you’ve read my previous article about our frightening bear friends, you already know how excited I am for Ewoks to be released in the upcoming set, Spark of Hope. My excitement has skyrocketed since being able to get the cards on the table. They are even more fun than I had hoped.

I’ve been thinking back on those days of yore when I was a noob. Well, I still am. I don’t often get a chance to play as I have many demands on my time. But when I can play, several lessons that I’ve learned spring to mind.

Go Commando
In what I hope will become a regular column, I talked to Dice Commando. This is a fledgling, in real life (IRL) Content Creator that has been around almost a year. Andrew is the organizer and manager of the channel. On top of the great IRL content that is shown, they have also started The Commando Cast which just posted episode 30. This CC is located in Portland, Oregon. Their Star Wars: Destiny scene has been pretty strong, with “several shops in the area that support the game and have regular events.” Andrew gives credit to the people that have put in the work to see this community increase.

When I began playing Star Wars: Destiny, the tournament circuit was structured as (from smallest to largest) Quarter, Store, Regional, National, and World Championships. This hierarchical structure allowed you to choose the level of competition in which to participate. After just a year, Galactic Qualifiers (GQ) were introduced, disrupting the balance, but not in an unwelcome way. Instead of competing for position, you competed for prize support. For each victory you were awarded a certain number of prize tickets, with bonuses being earned for those finishing in the top. The only flaw of the GQ structure was the elimination of players after two losses, which negatively impacted morale.

So you have decided to play Star Wars: Destiny. You have acquired some cards from friends and your FLGS. Now you ask yourself “What do I do next?” In this article we will go over some basic tips on building that first deck. Sit back and let your imagination go wild, because it is a lot of fun to build.

I Was One of the Thousands of People That Attended the Origins Game Fair…
As an Ohio native, I look forward to a few gaming conventions every year. The one that I seem to find myself attending the most is the Origins Game Fair in Columbus, which is about an hour away from where I live. Origins is a pretty big convention (over 18,000 attended in 2018), and there is a lot to do and see. I didn’t play in last year’s Star Wars: Destiny event when I attended Origins. When it was announced that there would be a Galactic Qualifier again this year, I knew I wanted to play.

What I feel my mission is here at The Chance Cube is to help people connect with the community. One of the best ways to do that is through those people that spend a lot of time doing content creation. These people put hours into brainstorming, filming, editing, and uploading their work. I am lucky enough to be able to talk to a great one, Monk of Monks Gaming Battleground.

What do I think of the Meta at this time? That is a great question and one I ponder while building decks. Do I want to succumb to the Snoke (WF4) or do I want to try something more outside the box. For me, thinking outside the box is fun. I am in the beginning stages of building an Iden Versio (AG18) deck. I have gone 2-2 with it at my recent FLGS event, so I know there is work to be done. At this event, however, there were quite a few that were outside the box. Continue reading “Follow the Meta?”
I Am Your Father
Today being Father’s Day and thinking about the base of the deck I will be playing, let’s talk about my favorite father figure, Darth Vader – Terror to Behold (AG1).
