12 Days of Destiny – Day 2

We are deep in the holiday season, and I have to admit that I get a bit…enthusiastic…about Christmas. To that end, I thought it might be fun to take a shot at a “12 Days of Destiny” series of articles that highlight twelve wonderful (or at least impactful) things that Destiny has brought to us. Finally, I know that the Twelve Days of Christmas actually start on Christmas Day, but I thought it would be more fun to lead up to Christmas instead.

Way of the Force Spoilers: Here Come the Gungans!

“Gungans no dyin’withouta fight. Wesa warriors. Wesa got a grand army. That’s why you no likin’ us, mesa thinks.” – Jar Jar Binks

Though Legacies may have introduced us to our favorite Gungan, Jar Jar Binks, Way of the Force is going to help us fill out the ranks of the Gungan’s “grand army” with the introduction of Boss Nass – Bombastic Ruler and a new non-unique character, Gungan Warrior. Both of these new characters are Red and feature the Gungan character type. While character types have not previously been referenced on cards before, we’ve long expected that they would be in the future after they started appearing on cards, and it looks like we get our first taste of their use with Boss Nass. Card Dissection: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master (LG32)

Of all of the Masters of the Force found in our favorite galaxy from a long time ago, far, far away, my favorite will always be Obi-Wan Kenobi. And, despite my overall underwhelmed perception of Episodes I-III, my favorite version of Obi-Wan is Prequel Obi-Wan. Suffice to say, I’m quite excited to see the newly announced Legacies set bringing Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master (LG32) to the table! With so many acrylic options on the market, I haven’t had much time to consider the various creative 3D printed designs that are also available. Product Review: Star Wars: Destiny Play Mats (A Game of Dice and Ire)

By now, many of you have likely seen the beautiful game mats being produced by A Game of Dice and Ire. So are these mats worth your consideration and investment? Let’s find out! Continue reading “Product Review: Star Wars: Destiny Play Mats (A Game of Dice and Ire)”

Card Dissection: Cargo Hold – Eravana (SR152)

There are a lot of cards to be excited about in Spirit of Rebellion, but in spite of all of the seemingly amazing cards that are sure to change our meta, I keep finding myself being most excited about Cargo Hold – Eravana (SR152). That’s right; Force Speed (SR55) is amazing, Fast Hands (SR150) is really good, and of course, Palpatine (SR11) is going to get some love, even if he turns out to be non-competitive. And don’t get me wrong, those cards are great, but I’m still most excited about Cargo Hold, and I’m going to tell you why! Continue reading “Card Dissection: Cargo Hold – Eravana (SR152)”

Product Review: Deluxe Deck Box (Armada Games)

While you only ever really need to have one deck to play Star Wars: Destiny, if you’re like me, you’ll want to pack more than one most of the time. Anytime that I’m headed to a casual meetup, I usually bring more than one deck. And that means that while single deck boxes are great, they’re somewhat less desirable than a deck box that can accommodate multiple decks. Enter the Deluxe Deck Box from Armada Games that holds three complete decks with dice. It certainly sounds like a convenient solution, but can it really hold three decks in a way that is convenient, organized, and portable? Let’s find out! Product Review: Destiny Tournament Tray (TeeHee Game Loot)

A few months ago, my Friendly Local Game Store (FLGS) shared an image of some new custom, laser cut deck boxes that they were carrying in the store. These slim, easily portable Tournament Trays came from TeeHee Game Loot, and as soon as I saw them, I knew that I had to pick one up. Though I bought mine from my FLGS, who purchased them in large number from TeeHee Game Loot, you can also purchase them directly from their Etsy store with either a plain top or with custom art (for no additional fee). The boxes come unassembled and will require a small amount of labor and glue to construct. So are they worth the effort? Let’s check them out and see!
