Fantasy Flight Preview – Way of the Force: Yellow and Blue Hero

Hello Destiny fans, Fantasy Flight Games just announced the new set, Way of the Force, and of course, it included a handful of spoilers. Here is a little breakdown of the Yellow and Blue (Hero) cards that were previewed.

YELLOW

Bo-Katan Kryze (WF89)

Yellow hero gets another powerhouse Mandalorian lady. Her card is Rare and is costed at 15/20. She comes with a whopping 12 health and her die has 3 damage sides (3R, 2X and Special)! Added to that, she allows you to include Yellow Villain upgrades in your deck – let’s call her “Bad Girl”.

I am already thinking of the deck possibilities – more ambush weapons, Quick Draw (LG155) and “special “ exploits with Cunning (AW65)/Emperor’s Throne Room (AW167)…Oh My! Natural pairings would include elite Ezra (EW38) (the Boy) and single die Yoda (LG33) (the Master). I can’t wait to test her out.

Formidable (WF51)

This is a Yellow Villain Legendary card with a 2 cost. This die has it all – damage and defense. Its Special is amazing – deal one damage to an opponent’s character. If it is not blocked, you may move a weapon or equipment from that character to another. It is a mini Cargo Hold (SR152). For those of you familiar with this, it can take dice off the table and disrupt your opponents game plan. The upgrade can be used with Bo-Katan and could be used with Cunning/special chains.

Underhanded Tactics (WF52)

This is a Rare Yellow Villain upgrade with a 1 cost. It has 5 solid die sides including 2 +1 Range damage, a Discard and 2 Specials. The special deals one indirect damage and can be resolved with another die. Seems like you get a lot for a 1 cost here.

BLUE (HERO)

Luke Skywalker – Reluctant Instructor (WF56)

Blue Hero just got some “real love.” Old Luke is Legendary with 12 health and a cost of only 12/15. His die includes 3 Shield sides which can be used as melee damage (defense and offense), a Focus and a Resource. It doesn’t stop there though, his power action allows one to move a Blue ability from him to another Blue character. Boom! That just happened.

He will pair nicely with many characters including my pick of elite Rey2 (TP24). Get ready to bring on the shields, Riposte (AW121) and Synchronicity (SR106). Beware villains, the “Blue Blitz” is coming!

Luke Skywalker’s Lightning Rod (WF69)

This is a rare blue hero upgrade with a cost of 2. The die comes with an incredible 3 black melee damage sides (1X, 2X, 2X), a Shield and a Resource. Wait…..there is more,  if it is on “Old Luke”, you may resolve the damage sides as shields. Once again, providing even more options for offense/ defense.

This concludes my spoiler review. I hope you are as excited as I am. Way of the Force already promises to bring even more to the game we love. I must go now to look for a second job.

Good gaming,
Demetrius L. Patton
