Celebration Recap: Day 3

For someone who loves Star Wars, especially storytelling, day three had something for everyone. While it is impossible to experience it all, one has to make choices about what is most important. And of course, add a little Destiny to the mix.

Star Wars Rebels News and Preview

The cornerstone panel of the day was Star Wars Rebels, a panel that has proven to be exciting every time it comes around. This year, however, it was met with mixed emotions, as Dave Filoni, supervising director of animation for Lucasfilm, announced that Season 4 was going to be the final season, that the story will be most meaningful and impactful if he concludes it at the end of this season. A trailer for Season 4 was debuted, and then, as soon as the live stream was cut off, we were treated to the first episode of the season, which I can tell you sets us up for an amazing adventure.

The other nice treat was Dave’s shirt. For the entire panel, he wore the typical “Ahsoka Lives?” shirt, however, after the trailer was played and the lights came back up, his shirt changed to “Ahsoka Lives!” He never addressed it verbally nor drew attention to it, but he as subtlety answered the question we have all had since the finale of Season 2.

Playing the Designers

Star Wars: Destiny demos continued in full force, and so did staff challenges.  For those who were lucky, the lead designer of the game, Lukas Litzinger, was there participating in the staff challenges, and he proved challenging to beat for many.

More Literature

The other panels I attended were DelRey and Marvel comics. It seems all the previews and reveals were done at the previous day’s Lucasfilm publishing panel, so these two panels were more about the development of these books, with only a couple of previews and nuggets of wisdom about the titles coming soon. They were still very interesting to attend, though I was hoping for a bit more news coming out of them.

Day 4, the final day is upon us, with Hamill Himself and the Closing Ceremonies to look forward to. Today I am accompanied by my father, and he will be doing a demo of Star Wars: Destiny, which is very exciting!
