The Chance Cube Presents: Exclusive Spirit of Rebellion Spoilers!

The Chance Cube has exciting news: exclusive spoilers for Spirit of Rebellion! Below, we have three new, never-before seen cards, and a brief reaction to each.

New Orders (SR137)

Welcome back Cubers, to another round of SPIRIT OF REBELLION PREVIEWS brought to you by the Galactic Trade Network – if it ain’t in our market, it doesn’t exist.

We come here live to introduce you to a beautiful new card from Spirit of Rebellion, New Orders (SR137). A neutral grey card, which means you can splash this beast into any deck, we will see this guy played in some very nasty decks to come out that rely heavily on their battlefield. Unlike its cousin, Hyperspace Jump (AW129), this one doesn’t end the action phase, but what it does give you is the ability to trigger the battlefield condition.

This is going to be huge for decks like Poe/Rey and Han/Rey, and others that are good without their battlefield but great with them. Imagine, you are sitting on this card turn 1 and you win the roll. You decide to get two shields for Poe, and you and your opponent roll out. Poe’s special doesn’t come up, but what you do get is this puppy to go back to the Emperor’s Throne Room and BAM, you get a free resolve without having to claim… oh man, this set is getting CRAZY good!!

Fast Hands (SR150)

My initial thought with this card is that I really like how this set seems to be helping with tempo, or at least trying to catch up with Jango. It allows for die resolution before your opponent can do anything about it. I can see this being effective in limited circumstances. Maybe you want to do that final bit of damage to kill off a character and don’t need to pair it with more damage or any modifiers, or you might want to get your opponent to discard some cards before they can get anything going, etc.

The difficulty with this ability is that it takes up a much needed slot on your character, with limited results. I think it would have seen much more use as a support. To have this work well, you’d need a good initial roll, and nothing that you would want to pair with another die when resolving, as this ability only allows you to resolve one die. So if you rolled a couple blanks, or something else you really didn’t want to resolve, the ability is wasted.

Overall, for 0 cost, I could see it in a Han deck with Infamous to trigger Hans ability and gain a shield, or even with Armed to the Teeth; better to discard a free upgrade than one that is costly. Overall, the card might see some use competitively, but I don’t think it will be an auto-include in a yellow deck.

Temmin “Snap” Wexley – Recon Specialist (SR29)

Thematically, this card nails it right out of the gate. “Snap” Wexley, the Resistance pilot, is tasked with a vital recon mission against the First Order’s superweapon, Starkiller Base. Every inch the “Recon Specialist”, the data gathered by his recon flight will be vital in the mission against the base. Looking at the die sides, the first impression is mill and control decks will be looking closely at this card. 2 disrupt sides and a discard side will certainly mess with an opponents plans, much in the way the data “Snap” gathered helped expedite the base’s destruction. The single range side for one damage isn’t amazing, but this is through my aggro-tinted glasses. A single resource and a blank round out the sides.

The ability forces a cost for your opponent, but only if one of your dice remains in the pool. How often you’ll have a die remaining in your pool to take advantage of this is debatable, though. One possible way would be to team “Snap” with Han. Running both elite would hit the 30 point mark exactly. The recently spoiled A180 Blaster (SR32) would fit this deck nicely as well, complementing the single ranged side and adding another disrupt. Being a fan of aggro decks, I wasn’t initially blown away by “Snap”, but just touching on a possible eHan/eSnap deck shows he has some potential, and as more cards are spoiled, his viability will become clearer.

  1. Definitely, i love New Orders.
Wexley is ok, i think he can find his slot…
I’m not sure about Fast Hans .. i need to test it before have an opinion 🙂
Thanks for de spoilers and regards from Spain.

  2. Fast hands is going to be great for Jabba, especially when he is paired with a blue character for a mill deck. That card allows him to roll, reroll one of his dice if needed then can resolve a 2 disrupt or discard right away. Or cheat out a crime lord with no way to stop it
