Level 1 Game Shop League: Wrap Up

I know I said I would do this in a Podcast Byte, but I’ve been a bit busy this week, and needed to write an extra article, so I decided to do the wrap up in an article. It won’t be super long, and my next article will be about Game Theory for sure! On to the wrap up!

6 weeks and a TON of games

This league was six weeks long, which is longer than it seems. It’s crazy to think that I started these articles a month and a half ago. After playing for six weeks, I lost track of how many games I played. Luckily after looking over the standings, and doing some math, I figured out that I played sixteen games, which comes into just under three games per week. While that might not be a whole lot, I DID play many more games, just not as actual league games. Overall, I placed 12th out of 13, mainly because the guy who placed 13th never showed up. I went 1-15 in the end, which is awful. While I didn’t do very well, I’m not upset. Things went poorly in that league, but in two weeks the next league starts and I’ll have a clean slate.

I did learn quite a bit about the game as well as my current meta. Ranged aggro isn’t as prevalent as it was before; there are some melee-based decks creeping in. The melee decks are usually eGrevious/Dooku. Vader/Raider is also pretty big, which is a very rough deck to face. Block (AW153) has been helping with these decks, but be prepared to face a lot of Vader/Raider for the next two months.

What’s Next?

For now, I’m focusing on playing eJango/Trooper/Trooper. It’s a good deck, and one I enjoy playing. Spirit of Rebellion should have a few upgrades. IG-88 looks really good so far, I just hope he’s got a good special as well as a decent point cost. We just need to wait another two months and we’ll have some brand new cards to play with! Good luck in your games this week and I’ll see you in my next article!
