Card Dissection: Mos Eisley Spaceport (AW172)

One of the more highly specialized Battlefields released for the Awakenings set, Mos Eisley Spaceport serves a niche deck strategy, and offers some exciting possibilities in other decks.

Artwork

Finally, an artwork that really does capture the spirit and flavor of the card itself. From the Stormtrooper riding the dewback wielding his pike, and the traders selling their used wares, this is Star Wars art at its finest. Clustered, dirty, dingy, and (dare I say it) sandy, this is artwork I can fall in love with, or at least totally understand why it was chosen for this specific card.  The only thing that would make it better is a couple of Jawas running around. But, hey, we can’t have everything.

Claim

This is a decent claim ability. “Return one of your upgrades in play to your hand to gain 1 resource”. I love this when I put my Sith Holocron (AW16) back into my hand to have that one extra resource next turn. And, then, next turn I can play the Holocron again for free. Very efficient resource generation in any Blue Villain deck. In a Darth Vader (AW10) / Tusken Raider (AW22) deck with very little resource generation, this can be downright amazing.

This can also be used if you want gain that extra resource to play a much higher cost upgrade next turn. An example is this: You return a 1 cost upgrade to your hand, generating 1 resource, and you gain 2 more next turn for a total of 3. You can then use those 3 resources, along with discarding another upgrade, to play something that costs 4 or more resources. Yes, right now there isn’t an upgrade that costs more than 4, but there may be (heck, probably will be) in the future.

Finally, there is the option to bring to your hand an upgrade from a character before it is defeated that turn. So, now you have an extra resource to use and a card that would have gone into the discard pile.

Deck Options

Right now, I love to use it in any deck that makes heavy use of the Sith Holocron, or really any deck where being able to change the location of an upgrade can keep it alive longer.  While this Battlefield doesn’t hurt you as much as others might if your opponent claims it, them having that extra resource will still hurt you. Thankfully, like most things in Destiny, there is a counter for it: Disrupt.
