Interview: A Non-Gamer Perspective

One thing we have found at The Chance Cube over and over again is that this game is accessible to many players.  For those who are still a bit uncertain about sharing this game with their children our spouses, we encourage you to give it a shot.  In an effort to encourage those who are on the fence, or are just interested in a non-gamers perspective on this game, I sat down with my wife Sarah and asked her a few questions about her experience playing this game.

JASON: What games have you enjoyed playing?

SARAH: Ticket to Ride, Monopoly, Scategories, and games like that.

JASON: What do you like most about Star Wars: Destiny?

SARAH: I like that the game is unpredictable, and, depending on the cards you get, that is how the game goes, but you don’t know what order the cards are in.

JASON: What made you want to learn how to play the game?

SARAH: You were interested in it, so obviously I am interested in the things that you do. And I like board games and card games.

JASON: Would you consider yourself a Star Wars fan?

SARAH: Fan yes, obsessed no.  I like this game because I can get to know these characters more than beyond the movies, such as Rey, Finn, Kylo, Darth Vader, which is good for me.  Sometimes if I haven’t watch a movie in a while I forget who these characters are, and playing this game really helps me get to know them better so that I can follow along in the conversation.

JASON: Do you think that you would be interested in playing with others outside our family?

SARAH: Yea, because I want to learn the way the game is played for real.  I think that you go easy on me and don’t defeat me when you can.

JASON: What about this being a collectable card game makes this exciting?

SARAH: I definitely want to get all the cards possible so that we have them to play with.   I don’t really want to have them to display but want to be able to play with everything.

JASON: Do you have anything to say to someone who may not be as interested in playing this game?

SARAH: If you like card games, this is a great game to play, because you never know what is going to happen, and it keeps you interested in the game and the rules. It only took a couple games to get a grasp on the rules.

JASON: Any final words you want to share with us about this game?

SARAH: I really like the support cards.  BB-8 is so cute! And Awakening comes in handy a lot, because there are a lot of plusses [modified sides] on the hero side more so than on the villain side.

Both Sarah and I encourage you to share this game with your family, especially if Star Wars is a big part of your family conversation.
